This review explores VoilaNorbert's key features, including email finding, verification, enrichment, and automation, highlighting its ease of use, strengths, limitations, and comparisons to competitors like Watson, Hunter.io and Snov.io.
Alright, buckle up! Let’s talk about VoilaNorbert, a handy little email finder tool that's making waves in the lead gen and outreach space.
If you've ever tried to hunt down someone’s email address (like Sherlock Holmes with a LinkedIn profile), VoilaNorbert promises to save you the time and headache.
Let's give it a try.
The tool makes big promises, let's see if it can keep them.
To test out their email finder, I uploaded a list of 50 leads.
The leads are founders of companies that recently raised venture capital funding. Some startups are new on the scene, some have been around for a while.
This should be a reasonable test, since the industries are varied, some email addresses should be new and some companies are still <10 people.
Turns out, the bulk email finder does really well.
Of the 50 prospects uploaded, 40 emails were identified. That's 80% coverage. Not too bad!
Alright, we're not done yet. Giving us an email address does not mean it will deliver.
To make sure we're doing this right, let's involve a third party: Zerobounce.
Zerobounce is a great email verification tool... And it tells us 36 out of the 40 emails are valid - that's 90%. That's miles better compared to the likes of Apollo.
Three of the residual four emails are catch-alls, but all of them are scored with a 0 so we can assume they would bounce.
With this test, I would say VoilaNorbert is a good choice. While you definitely have to verify the emails (a 10% bounce rate would kill your deliverability), their data coverage is good.
Norbert also has its own email verification feature that comes in handy.
Norbert goes through an 8-step verification process to ensure the email addresses you’re targeting are legit. From checking for inactive or parked domains to gibberish detection and freemail filters (we're looking at you, Hotmail), it scrubs your list clean so your emails don’t end up in the void.
In simpler terms: fewer bounces, a better sender reputation, and most importantly, more of your emails landing in actual inboxes. The verification feature is a must-have for anyone sending large volumes of emails or running campaigns where deliverability is critical.
It’s reasonably priced, too—$0.003 per email up to 500k, with even better rates for larger lists. Definitely worth it to save yourself from spam folder purgatory.
Got a solid email list? Great. Now comes the hard part: nurturing those leads.
Thankfully, Norbert’s Sequences feature lets you automate this process. You can schedule email sequences with automatic follow ups - perfect for anyone doing cold outreach, whether in sales or marketing.
Norbert also spices things up with A/B testing, email rotation (to prevent spam filters from sniffing out your campaigns), and even AI-generated copy to help with that pesky writer’s block.
For up to 2,500 emails per month, it’s free, which is more than enough for smaller campaigns or startups. Need more? They’ve got bigger plans, but the free tier is generous.
If you want to move beyond “just an email,” Enrichment is where the magic happens.
It’s designed to help you build more contextual relationships with your leads by enriching email addresses with job titles, companies, locations, and social media profiles.
Now, instead of shooting in the dark, you’ve got a fleshed-out profile on who you're contacting. You know exactly who you're talking to, making personalization easier.
This feature is great for taking your outreach to the next level. Instead of a generic "Hi there," you can tailor your message like: "Hey, [name], I see you’re crushing it at [company]. Thought you’d be interested in this!" This turns cold emails into warmer interactions that feel a bit more human.
The pricing is pretty straightforward - $0.04 per email up to 2,000, and it gets cheaper the more you enrich. If you're running big lists and need better segmentation, this feature is a game-changer.
VoilaNorbert is great. But here’s the catch: No waterfall enrichment.
If you're not familiar with the term, think of it as extra layers of sleuthing. If VoilaNorbert doesn’t find an email, it doesn't go through multiple levels of deeper searches or enriched databases to come up with more leads or alternate contact details.
Watson has this waterfall enrichment feature (surprise, the website writing the blog post is listing itself first).
That means if you try to find an email with Watson, it will check 10+ tools to find a valid email address. If we cannot find the email address, probably nobody can.
If VoilaNorbert is your friendly neighborhood email finder, Hunter.io is its slick, corporate cousin who wears a suit to the family BBQ.
Hunter.io is very fast and comes with extra features like domain search, which lets you find all the email addresses associated with a particular domain - useful if you're trying to reach someone but don’t know their specific address.
It also offers CRM integration, so you can plug it right into your sales tools, making it feel more robust if you’re managing a team or a full-scale email campaign.
Downside? Hunter.io is definitely more expensive, so if you’re on a tight budget, Norbert might be more your speed.
Interested in using the tool? Hunter.io is also included in Watson's waterfall email finder!
Now let’s talk about Snov.io, which brings more than just email finding to the table. It’s like Norbert’s cooler sibling who also dabbles in outreach automation, drip campaigns, and lead nurturing.
Snov.io doesn’t just find emails, it helps you nurture leads with tools like email drip sequences and tracking features to see how prospects are interacting with your emails. If you're juggling outreach at scale, these features can make your life easier.
However, the learning curve on Snov.io is a bit steeper compared to Norbert’s simplicity. Plus, the extra features might be overkill if you're just looking for a quick email lookup.
Interested in using the tool? Snov.io is also included in Watson's waterfall email finder!
Next up is FindThatLead, which is somewhere between Norbert and Snov.io in terms of complexity. It’s got email lookup, bulk search, and also offers lead generation tools like prospecting and social media contacts.
What makes FindThatLead interesting is its focus on social media contact finding - so it’s not just emails, it’s trying to give you a fuller profile of your leads. It's handy if you want to reach people on multiple platforms. It also comes with some custom search filters, so you can narrow down the type of contacts you're looking for.
VoilaNorbert is a strong contender if you're after a tool that focuses on simplicity, ease of use, and decent accuracy. It’s perfect for someone who needs quick and reliable email addresses without too many frills or a steep learning curve.
But if you're after waterfall enrichment or more advanced lead-gen features like outreach automation, you might feel a bit let down.
Norbert might not go “waterfall-deep,” but for many, it’s enough to keep the emails rolling in.
